Some of these giant California Redwoods are 3,000 years old.

You and I won’t live nearly so long as that.  In fact, compared to that, our lives will be gone in the blink of an eye.  I don’t know about you, but in the short time I have here, I want to have some fun and I want to make a difference.  In fact, I want to have fun while making a difference.

In particular, I want to involve myself in projects that help make the world a better place.  Whether these projects safeguard the environment, or bring a life-changing high-tech product to market, or fight for social justice, or even bring arts and culture to the community - I’m all about having a positive impact.  I want to work with people who are doing good things and great things.

Sometimes, when I’m writing a grant, I become almost overwhelmed with emotion.  Yes, while writing a grant.  People think of these things as dry and heavily detailed.  And they are.  Sometimes I get a little lump in my throat anyway.  Partially, that’s just me being nutty.  But mostly it’s YOU, and the things you’re doing.  When that happens, I know I’m on to something.

Life’s too short to be on the side of the evildoers.  Life’s too short to work for greedy people and polluters.  The world is too majestic to turn our backs on it.  Helping is way more fun than hurting.

I’m guessing that if you’re still reading this website, you probably feel the same way.
