About

People say to me:

“Patrick, why don’t you get a real job?”

And I always answer, “What would I want to do that for?”

I love the way I work.  I love my freedom.  I love to work hard on varied and interesting projects, projects that make the world a better place.  And when the work is done, I love to take time off.  I love to travel the world, and see new places, and spend time in the outdoors.

I love swimming.  Sometimes in the summer, I put on a wetsuit and go for a nice long swim in the ocean.  If you see a tiny blip way out in the deep water one day, just a little piece of nothing so far out that you think your eyes must have played a trick on you, that was probably me.

I’ve been a professional writer for more than 15 years.

I started my career working for Greyston Foundation, helping raise money to build housing for homeless families in New York.  I’ve written grant proposals, and helped organizations strategize and develop new programs, since the very beginning.  I also did my first public relations work at Greyston.  My first media interview was a short news piece that appeared on National Public Radio when I was 23 years old.

I’ve been a journalist and a copywriter, and in those capacities have written dozens of articles and countless brochures, reports, press releases, backgrounders, advertisements, and speeches, not to mention newsletters, marketing copy and content for websites.

By the way, I’m also the bestselling and critically-acclaimed author of five books (one of which has been translated into four languages).  Four of these books were novels and one was the co-written autobiography of a movie star.  This means I'm creative.  Don't worry, it's a good thing.

As an author, I’ve made numerous radio appearances and public speaking appearances.  I’ve also been the subject of many newspaper and magazine articles.  Some of this media attention, including a major feature article in the Los Angeles Times and a long interview segment on Maine Public Radio, were the result of my own soliciting of coverage.
